Hi!
I’m Kelly, wife to Jeff, mom to four kids, lover of Jesus, calmer of chaos, and coordinator of our many family adventures! I am a military kid turned Southern girl, currently living with my family near Atlanta, Georgia.
I spent my 20’s doing “BIG” things for God: going on mission trips, full-time Student Ministry, and wearing a gazillion different hats while planting a church with my awesome hubby.
I spent my 30’s doing “small things” for God: having babies, changing diapers, parenting with purpose, and eventually homeschooling, all while trying to convince myself that motherhood was indeed a holy calling.
Now in my 40’s, I have learned that the “small” things really are the “big” things! Motherhood is a holy calling; as is being a wife, coaching soccer, leading a small group, helping a neighbor, and even cooking dinner.
I finally accepted that all of it- every thing we do, whether seemingly big or small– is a holy calling, and there is great joy to be found when it is done in obedience to God! But following that calling, at least in my case, isn’t always easy. It involves sacrificing my own plans, desires, and expectations, trusting that God’s perspective is bigger and better than mine. This daily striving to walk in His ways is what I call “the surrendered life.” Every week I share here what the Lord is teaching me and how I am finding joy in living a life surrendered to Him.
(And if your life looks a little different from mine, a holy calling can also include managing a company, being single, being a missionary, teaching a class, going to work, working from home, planting a garden… you get the picture.)
